Health Care For All!

The House just finished voting on the Health Care bill, which will now go up to the President for his signature.  I’ll admit, I’m not 100% in love with the final package, but I am glad that friends of mine who do not have health insurance will finally be covered.  Changes to the Bill are already being made with the House’s second vote on doing away with things like the “Cornhusker Kickback.” Giving all Americans the ability to have health insurance does not mean that we are losing our freedom.  It doesn’t mean that Uncle Sam is going to decide whether or not you are able to see a specialist, and decide that you are too much of a burden and should die.  Affording everyone the ability to protect himself/herself by having health insurance will allow Americans to great things, to pay their mortgages, rent, utilities, car notes, etc. It will keep many from claiming bankruptcy due to unpaid medical bills.  It will allow those with pre-existing conditions to obtain health insurance when they have been turned down in the past.  Giving everyone access to medical care at a reasonable price is what we should have done a long time ago.  No one should have to suffer because he/she is in a different employment situation than I am. I have been fortunate to have health insurance from the day I popped out of the womb, to when I joined the military, to when I entered the corporate world.  There are millions of Americans who are about to know what having health care is like for the very first time in their lives, many of them much older than I.  What has happened tonight is a good thing for our fellow Americans.  I just wish many of the elitists would remove the blinders so they could see it.

  1. Removing the blinders is right. Must be interesting to be in your part of the country while this is happening…

  2. Yes it is. Would you like to swap till this blows over?

  3. I’m with you…not so enchanted, but it’s a start! Yesterday was REALLY hard to watch….such hatefulness, misinformation and rancor….let’s just focus on what’s ahead, because the ugliness isn’t going away…

  4. Woooohoooo! It’s a start…
