Wow, I didn’t realize that it’s been over two weeks since my last posting. I’ve been keeping busy between work, school, two snowstorms and other extracurricular activities. I have been keeping an eye on the world of political happenings and to see, Sen. Bayh a moderate democrat step down due to the severe partisan politics in Congress did not surprise me. Congress is polarized. You can tell by the recent votes on bills that have included Republican co-sponsors who decided to turn their backs on progress just to stick with their party. The practice of partisan politics is not a new occurrence, but it does need to end. Our country cannot progress if we continue to fight light fucking children. We expect nations (ethnic groups, tribes, etc.) to come together and live under one government, like Afghanistan and Iraq, yet we cannot even bring two political parties together to do what is best for the people of this country. That’s just sad.
I am very much a socially-liberal person, who identified myself as a democrat from the moment I was able to register to vote. I ended up getting so tired of the mudslinging back and forth that I ended up changing to, what is essentially, unaffiliated five years ago. I have never voted a straight ticket in an election. I always paid attention to the candidates and voted for who I felt was best for the job. I looked beyond the labels and focused on voting history, backgrounds, and ideologies. Unfortunately, the rest of the country does not seem to operate in the manner that I do and allows a lot of rhetoric to push folks into more polarized positions when it comes to political leanings. It has not only divided Congress, but much of the country as well.
I had hoped that when President Obama won the election, the people of this country had really wanted change and that was what we would see out of Washington. Instead, we have seen the same old bullshit where taxpayers’ money is spent and not much good is getting done. We have a majority who tries to steam through bills and issues, and a minority who is saying “no” based upon the belief that doing the opposite, no matter how detrimental it might be to the American people, is more important than participating in creating a better, stronger America.
I really hope that the voters wake up, voice their opinions to their Congressmen to cut out the stupid playground antics and try to work together. Otherwise, we need to clean house in November.

Seriously. It has been such a disappointment.
I think the President is tired of trying to find middle ground, as am I. Republicans have been completely dishonorable- I wish people would notice!
I haven’t been blogging either!! But this very subject has been an issue for me too in the past months, and I don’t see any way around it with the people who are now in office. These lawmakers will not get anything of any consequence done for the American people with these divisions along party lines and ideology…..it always comes down to that! Wish I knew the answer….maybe just voting them all out? A country divided will never accomplish anything, and if there was ever a time to do that, it is now.
Okay, that’s my rant for this week!!!! And on your blog too!!!!
We have always been divided, I’m sure you have read 1776.
Voting them all out won’t make a difference we would just be dividided by newer less experienced politicians
Minnesota found that out when they elected Jessie Ventura.
we still haven’t recovered from that fiasco.
Now we have a Governor who ran with a no tax increas pledge
On April 1st instead of raising taxes, he will be eliminating thousands of people mostly mentally ill and disabled from Health Care.
Throwing them out like garbage, while he travels the country running for President. so he can do it to every one else.
dividided,,??
