As you have heard by now, Scott Brown won the Senate seat out of Mass. yesterday, killing the supermajority of the Senate. Now I know that many were looking forward to the coveted supermajority when Al Franken won the MN election that took forever and a day to certify. However, is it such a bad thing to no longer have a filibuster-proof Senate?
Okay, before you jump down my throat, keep in mind that I’m a registered Independent who looks at both sides of every argument on a regular basis. I’m also a believer in having the system of checks and balances and that having more than one party with a voice in D.C. is not necessarily a horrible thing. Granted, there are a lot of things that I do not agree with that come out of the mouths of the Republicans that do go against the definition of their very own party. Yet, there are also a few things that I really haven’t been a fan of to come out of the Democrats. Oh, and Joe Lieberman can suck it as far as I’m concerned. However, I do like Bernie Sanders, so that means I approve of 50% of the Independents in Congress.
Now, I understand that the Health Care Bill is not final, as the two versions have to be merged into a piece of legislation that everyone in Congress must vote one. However, I don’t agree with penalizing those who have “Cadillac Health Insurance”. I’m not saying that just because I happen to pay extra for my PPO either. In fact, many labor unions have voiced their concern as their workers took less money for better health care and to be taxed for that is chicken shit. What every happened to taxing the upper echelon of tax payers appropriately by doing away with tax breaks that are bullshit in the first place? Why can’t we tax elective surgery? If Pamela Anderson wants to increase her boobage… again… I think she can afford the 5% tax.
I also don’t believe in the deals that have been made in order to get folks to vote on bills in exchange for favors later on. The network of backscratchers needs to be blown out of the water… and they are on both sides of the aisle.
As you know, I am for repealing ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ and the Defense of Marriage Act. Do I believe that the rights of gays are at risk with the election of Scott Brown? Nope. Not really. Not every Republican is anti-gay rights. Just like not every Democrat is pro-gay rights.
So, as we wade through the bullshit of Capitol Hill, I hope we area able to find a path where the will of the people is not ignored. It’s not about the PACs. Yes, they help fund the campaigns. However, we’re the ones who vote on who stays and who goes… something to keep in mind.

Yeah, I’m too exhausted to be pissed off about Scott Brown. Frankly, I don’t think he’s smart enough to pose a great threat.
Health care is dead.
.though I wasn’t happy with a lot of it..
It would have prevented insurance companies from eliminating people with pre-existing conditions from getting insurance.
It also would have eliminated the Donut hole in the Drug Insurance Program.
I have a friend who reached the Donut hole last August and
was paying 800.00 a month for her drugs through the end of the year.
She starts out fresh now..but the Doctor has added 2 more pills..so she may not make it to August this year..
She is one of the lucky ones because she can afford the medications..but most Seniors are on fixed incomes and just have to go without their meds.
You know the more I think about it, maybe it’s time for a Revolution..
The bullshit of Capitol Hill…isn’t that redundant?
Oddly enough, I was on a forum the other day where a Republican was commenting that Obama’s greatest achievement within the GLBT community was “to convince them he cares about them.”
