Political Morsels and Other Droppings

Howdy folks!  I figured it was about time to get around to my first posting of the year. Actually, I transferred schools and just started my first eight-week class on Monday.  I have another class, International Relations, which starts up next month, and I will then be a full-time student. Yes, I’m trying to get all that I can from my GI Bill before it runs dry in ’12.  Well, that and I’m over the hump and would like to knock off at least ten courses per year,so I can get my hands on that Golden Ticket.

Speaking of golden tickets, Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon will no longer be in charge of the city on 4 February thanks to her plea deal she made in court yesterday. She got herself a one-way ticket to working 500 hours of community service as well as having to donate some big bucks to the Bea Gaddy Foundation. (Bea Gaddy is a legend in the Baltimore area.) Not to mention that her fur coats, which were a gift from a developer ex-boyfriend, are to be auctioned off.  Oh, and what was this all for? An ethics probe. A lot of folks found the whole case to be petty. However, I don’t think that’s the case. If you commit a crime, you should have to pay the piper.  I am sick of seeing politician after politician get off (in some cases in more ways than one) free and clear.

People need to realize no matter if you’re the bum turning turning tricks on the side of the road, a politician, or even a celebrity, you are not above the law.

Oh, and don’t worry, after Ms. Dixon’s probation has ended, she can run for office again.  Sort of like Marion “Bitch Set Me Up” Barry did in D.C.  when he got out of prison.
