Tonight’s the first night this week that I’ve had an opportunity to hit the gym. Don’t worry, I stayed away from the treadmill. (I still have busted finger from that.) However, I was on the bike and at the right hour to catch Rachel Maddow interview Tom Ridge about his new book. Most importantly, she asked him about a passage he wrote in regards to elevating the terror threat level and whether the motivation was political or something else. Apparently what Mr. Ridge meant to say and what Rachel Maddow (and most of us) got from his passage were two different things. I will say that I don’t fully agree with Mr. Ridge’s views on the invasion of Iraq, which he discussed on her show. I must also say that I’m not a huge fan of the Department of Homeland Insecurity. However, I have met the guy and I do have respect for the man. (i.e. my skin didn’t crawl when I shook his hand… that’s more than I could say about Bush… who shakes hands like a wet fish.) He can debate the issues in an intelligent and civil manner. That’s a whole hell of a lot more than I can say for some folks.
If you weren’t able to catch the Rachel Maddow Show, please do take the time to find it online. The interview with Tom Ridge is in the first part of the show, so if you’re tired of hearing about the health care debate, you can avoid it.

You know what? My dad said Nixon shook hands like a wet fish, too! Two crooks, same handshake…
I loved how Rachel handled this interview! She was respectful, but she was ‘kindly’ tough, and didn’t let him get away with anything…..it was brilliant!
