I’ve been halfway absent from writing on here and it looks like my postings will be a bit sporadic for at least the next coming weeks. As you regulars know, I not only have a day job, but I’m also doing the school thing on the side. Balancing the two out while maintaining this hasn’t been much of a problem. In fact, I wrote on a daily basis during last year’s election. (how could I not?) However, I am taking an early American Lit. class that is kicking my ass at the moment. Apparently it helps to have a Christian background* while reading the early works. Let’s just say I don’t have that background. Since I’m one of those anal perfectionists when it comes to my coursework, I know I will be pretty tied up until the works I’m reading no longer refer to God, some sort of Psalm or Jesus, for two-thirds of the piece.
I have already called and informed one parent that this is one time when growing up in a Christian household would have benefited me…. If I get turned down at some pearly-white gates, I’m already blaming them for my hedonistic ways.
I will be back, and I do want to read the blogs from those of you who own them. However, it’s going to take me awhile to get around to you folks.
*Not that there’s anything wrong with it, as I do have friends who follow the Christian faith. I’m just not one of them.

Good luck! I hated classes that required some kind of prerequisite cultural or religious background.
The American Lit class I took was Reconstruction to Present, which meant I got to read Huck Finn again some of the Brer Rabbit stories. Much better than what you are doing probably.
My Western Civ class is just reading so far, mid term shortly. My Orientation class is just 1 credit and involves simple “learn to use the Internet for online classes at this university stuff” World Politics is going to be the death of me!
Good luck.
Good luck on your class…..sorry it’s so painful! I’ll pray for you…….HEE heE hhhhhhhheee!!
What in the world are you reading? Sounds awful! Ha ha, Chris, that was just what I was thinking!
Good luck with your class. I know how hectic school *and* work can get.
We’ll be here whenever you check in
I see we have a couple comediennes in the house. I don’t know why, but it does bother me when people say that they’ll pray for me because I sure as hell don’t even pray for myself. I’m thinking that if there is a God, (s)he’s got other things to deal with that are far more important than making a touchdown, winning the lottery, hoping that the single-wide will somehow transform into a double-wide, or for a significant other… but that’s just me. I know, if there’s a Hell, I’m fucked…. but I’m talking half of you with me!!!
D, I promise to save you a seat if I get there first.
