The fortieth anniversary for the Apollo Moon Landing isn’t until the 20th. However, today does mark forty years since Chappaquiddick.
Ted Kennedy was known for being one who liked the bottle. He also enjoyed the company of women other than those he was married to. Some have said that both interests came into play on July 18, 1969.
First, let me say that I have read quite a bit about the Kennedy Clan. Not to mention, Ted Kennedy has made some great votes while serving in the Senate. However, there are many decisions that he has made that I have not been a fan of. His excuses for being against a proposed wind farm in not far from the Kennedy Compound in Mass. being one of them. He also makes good money from oil, as his family has invested in the black gold. Ultimately, I take great issue with how he faired from the whole Chappaquiddick incident. If any of us had been in the same circumstances and had left another person behind to drown and not report it until the next day, we would have received more than a two month suspended sentence.
So, today I hope Sen. Kennedy is sitting somewhere thinking about the fact that had he not had gotten behind the wheel with a passenger, after a night of drinking, Mary Jo Kopechne might be around enjoying her 68th year on this earth.

I have a special hatred for drunk drivers, as one of them killed my dad’s best friend – my “uncle” Royce. Of course, that driver killed himself in the crash as well, while I hope survivors like Ted live with horrible guilt.
Being a New England girl, I’ve never been a Kennedy fan…and have always wondered how he got away with this. The Kennedy’s are the closest we’ve ever come to having a royal family and that just doesn’t sit well with this American.
Love the family and their service…hate the vices. Oh, the ones we all have? go figure….
