Hello Mr. President!

Official Portrait

Okay, now I waited until noon and was sure to watch the swearing in… THANK GOD THE EIGHT YEAR CLUSTERFUCK IS OVER!!!!  I can almost forgive Bush having four years, but seriously, was Kerry so bad that we had to endure four more years of the jackass and his puppet-master friend?  Oh, by the way, how easy was it to make comments about Cheney in his wheelchair?  Apparently, he wasn’t happy about being in the wheelchair for President Obama’s (that feels so good to say) inauguration.  Gee… I wonder why.  And how did he hurt his back?  Did his little puppet get caught in something and the strings pulled him down for once?

I don’t think I was happier to see Joe Biden’s face.  I don’t know about you, but I am so glad that it wasn’t that Wicked Witch from the Alaskan West flying in on her seaplane to claim the spot of VP.  That bitch was almost as scary as Cheney.  (Who I did see once in person…. there was a very cold air about him.)

I managed to catch President Obama’s Inaugural Address. However if any of you missed it, I’m including the speech in two parts for your viewing pleasure.  Not only did his words wrap Americans in a blanket of inspiration, but his manner of public speaking has elevated the IQ of this nation in the eyes of our foreign friends by at least fifty points.  Seriously, I am so glad that our country is once again being led by an effective speaker.  Bush just made us all look stupid. Then again, for those of you who voted for him in ’04, he did make you look sort of stupid to begin with. (sorry, but it’s true.)

One of the many parts of his address that I loved was this:

“For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus — and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.”

I don’t know about you, but today’s a good day.  We finally have a President we can be proud of!

  1. Cheers! Here’s to a return of hope, of decency, of intelligence!

I can’t imagine Cheney moving boxes unless they were full of secret and dangerous stuff… I wonder what secrets they held; perhaps missing e-mails or other missives of a doubtful nature. It was a perfect exit.

  2. It was almost as exciting to see Biden sworn in and knowing the Evil Dick could no longer have his fingers in the pudding as it was to watch Obama sworn in, Roberts’ bungling and all.

I am so glad this day has finally come. I’ve been counting the days down for almost two years.

  3. Isn’t it great…I cried during the whole thing…I’m older than you are, and lived through 30+ years of holding my breath to this day…my heart is just really full….I was really glad to see that helicopter leave…what a high!!!!!!!

  4. Yippee!! Happiest day I’ve had in 8 years…ties with my wedding, perhaps ;)

  5. Riot Kitty- It might actually beat out the day when my sister moved out to go to college and I got her old room. I no longer had to share my toilet with visitors. Man was that nice!

  6. I love my country. Sweet land of Liberty! It’s so nice to actually believe that again.
