California has adopted the toughest emissions plan in the U.S. What about the rest of the nation? Um…. again, California has adopted the toughest emissions plan in the U.S. Some Republicans weren’t too keen on the added measures to the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006. However, with enough time and therapy, they’ll get over it.
Much of Big Business takes issue with measures that aid the reduction of carbon emissions into our atmosphere. Granted, to be environmentally-minded can cost a bit of money, which can mess with their bottom line. However, they really need to look at the big picture. We are only around for a segment of time that’s like a blink of an eye in comparison to the existence of life on Earth. Yet, since the industrial revolution, we have piped more toxins into the atmosphere and waterways than the accumulation of pollutants from all continents since they broke away from Pangaea. Not that it’s hard since the main contaminants were mainly waste from living beings.
So, when I read about stricter laws that help out our environment as well as the inhabitants of the wild, I’m very pleased. Green is a good thing and promoting green living can actually prove to be a bit more lucrative in our post-industrial society. By creating and manufacturing green technology would not only promote employment to those who have lost their jobs to outsourcing, but it would stimulate the economy and leave a positive impact on the environment all at once. It’s totally win-win.
California might have the toughest emissions plan at the moment, but the rest of the country needs to match that now. One great way for our country to lead is that of having the strictest environmental standards.

You go girl!!! You said it all! And I’ve always been with Al Gore that going green would stimulate the economy and create jobs, as well as helping the environment. We can see that happening with recycling, and the jobs and businesses that have been created….took a while, but now it’s a reality, and definitely a win/win!
I think it’s great that California is adopting tougher emission standards…I will say though they are far from being leaders on being green. I recently moved back to the DC metro area from LA and I just want to say HA HA HA to the poor suckers that stayed!
First off, they have little to no HOV. They have little to no public transportation. Third, they create stupid you can’t smoke anywhere laws when a good portion of their citizenry are driving gas guzzing Hummers and the like.
I also challenge the expense and cost to businesses when going green. Look at Portland. They’ve gone to great lengths to be environmentally friendly, people predicted the city would die, and looks to me like they are doing pretty well!
