Over the past couple months, I’ve read on blogs and have heard on television that some people truly believe that President-Elect Obama is unable to meet the qualifications of holding the seat of President. So today, when I had heard that one guy from New Jersey submitted an emergency petition to the Supreme Court about it, I wasn’t too surprised. Don’t worry, the Supreme Court turned him down. Apparently, there are still people out there who believe that Barack Obama was not born in Hawaii. Then there are people like the New Jersey guy,who feel that he had dual nationality due to his dad being Kenyan. The only candidate who was born outside of the US, was John McCain. However, he was born in Panama while his father was serving in the Navy, and was born a US citizen.
This kind of stuff reminds me of those conspiracy theorists who believe that the moon landing was a hoax. It also reminds me of that elderly lady at one of the McCain campaign stops who was convinced that President-Elect Obama was a terrorist. The lack of sense does not amaze me in the least. After all, the National Enquirer has been around for a long time.

Indeed. I cannot believe that there are still so many people who keep talking about this as if it were true. Give it a rest already! The wing-nut media did an outstanding job brainwashing its adherents into believing all sorts of bullshit. The fact that they can’t let go kinda makes me afraid. Hopefully, when Obama gets inaugurated and they can’t stop him from being President anymore they will finally move on to something else.
One of the things I loved about the movie Men in Black was that all the tabloids had a grain of truth.
Thank goodness that’s not true in real life!
I have one word that will save us: education
There is no rule on whether or not a President can hold dual citizenship (that I can find). However, John McCain probably held a dual citizenship with Panama. I have had friends who were born to military parents who carried a dual citizenship. Those who chose to join the military as adults had to relinquish their dual citizenship however to serve their country. So I am guessing that President Obama would have to relinquish any other citizenship he had in order to actually BE President. I don’t care, though, and they are making mountains out of molehills here. He is my President and will be, at least, until Jan 2013
