I’ve been reading news articles over the past couple days that have made mention that Caroline Kennedy is giving the Senate seat from New York serious consideration. As you know, Hillary Clinton must give up her seat in the Senate in order to serve as Secretary of State, which of course, leaves Gov. Paterson with the task of appointing someone to fill the slot for a couple years.
Apparently, she’s gone back and forth on whether or not she would actually want to seek the position, but it would be interesting to see her follow the footsteps of her family. She does have the makings for serving in the Senate. She attended Harvard, where she received her B.A. and then followed on with attending Columbia Law School. She’s even a member of both the New York and D.C. Bars. Not to mention, she interned for her uncle. Although, I must admit, I’m not a huge fan of Ted Kennedy. (Sorry folks, but he got away with murder, as far as I’m concerned, with that whole Chappaquiddick incident.)
Caroline Kennedy has more than just the name. She has intellect, she has class, and she knows the law. That’s a hell of a lot more than can be said for a number of those who are currently serving on the Senate. So, do you believe she would be an asset to the Senate, or should she stay out of politics?

She is definitely a great choice…she really has everything needed to do a good job….intelligence, educational background, and she comes from a family where committment to community and country are high on the list of priorities. It would be a very solid choice! And like you said, probably better than most!!!!
I would be thrilled to see her as a New York senator. I think she is so bright, empathetic, and grounded. Have to give her mother credit on this one, Jackie sure raised two incredible children under very difficult circumstances.
I really hope she does consider the position. She seems to be pretty level-headed and, I believe, can handle her own even under pressure.
i think she’d be great….but i’m a bit biased, as i love all the Kennedys.
If she really wants to do it, I think she would be a good choice. I’m a little worried that she might be considering it just to please her Uncle Ted however. Regardless, it’s going to be interesting to follow this and see who gets the nod.
