And so it was that on the week of Turkey Day, President Bush issued fourteen pardons. Granted, he has issued only half as many as President Clinton, but was makes me sick is one individual on the list that he decided to set free:
“Leslie Owen Collier of Charleston, Mo., who pleaded guilty in 1995 to unlawfully killing three bald eagles in southeast Missouri. He improperly used pesticide in hamburger meat to kill coyotes, but ended up killing many other animals, including the bald eagles. Collier, who was convicted for unauthorized use of a pesticide and violating the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, was sentenced Feb. 2, 1996 in the Eastern District of Missouri” -DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer
So, apparently you can kill three of our nation’s most treasured birds, yet if you are an Arab who might not have had anything to do with a certain terrorist organization, you run the risk of being shipped off the Cuba without a trial. Is it just me or does Mr. Bush seem to not really have his priorities straight?
There was a surprise on who wasn’t part of his pardon list: Scooter!

Ah, that’s the one!
Then again, President Bush still has a bit of time left in office. It’ll be interesting to see if Mr. Libby finally gets off the hook. He did have his sentence commuted to supervised release and 400 hours of community service. I believe DUI folks have received harsher sentences than that. As the saying goes, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know that matters!!

You know what makes me so mad about the coyote thing? That man didn’t need to even kill the damn coyotes. Just keep them fed and they won’t eat your live stock. Don’t poison the meat, just give them meat. I’ve learned that from experience living in the wilds of New Mexico.
Bush needs to pardon himself. Like now. Right now.
Bush is like a bad acid trip. He just blows my mind.
Yeah, he needs to be working on his own pardon soon, because if I had my way the “moron in chief”, as a friend calls him, along with Cheney, Rove et al, need to be indicted for all of the crimes that they have committed during this administration. I know I have said this before, and usually I’m not a person that would consider this, but they have pushed my limits….and they will get away with it if no one does anything. Their crimes are much worse than a DUI, as bad as that could be…..no one drinking and driving could kill over 4000 people because of a bad business decision (the war) gone sour! I’m so ready for him to be gone!!! How many days?

I wondered if Libby would get a pardon as well…although it’s not like it matters really. He already didn’t have to serve his prison sentence. And it’s not like the guy isn’t making a ton of money, felon or not!
I suspect the pardon list is very long..
but they can’t pardon them selves.
Gerald Ford pardoned Nixon and is probably the reason he lost his election to Carter..
GiGi – That was a shame that it cost Ford. He actually didn’t care for Nixon and felt that by pardoning, the country could move on. Unfortunately that move tainted the rest of his Presidency which is a true shame. He actually had some great ideas and caught a lot of misdirected flack. (Before anyone starts… I’m an Independent… I don’t vote straight tickets and I do not attack people because of their party affiliation. I attack them because they suck.)
I don’t think voting straight tickets is a good idea anyway. Intelligent choice vs ideological bullshit? go figure!
