Thanksgiving is just around the corner and what better way to bring in the holiday than by reading a book? Yep, you read that correctly. I just finished reading, The Wordy Shipmates, which is about our nation’s Puritan beginnings with a focus on John Winthrop. The book is written by Sarah Vowell. If you aren’t familiar with her writing, she did the voice for Violet in The Incredibles. I highly recommend not only, The Wordy Shipmates, but her other books as well. The Partly Cloudy Patriot is a personal favorite of mine. I’m not one to pitch products on here, but being that Turkey Day’s not that far away, I would be remiss not to mention this insightful little gem to you folks.
This video contains the background on why Sarah Vowell decided to write The Wordy Shipmates. She also discusses her audio book.

Whoa! No joke. My mom called me the other day to tell me about this book too. She went on and on and I pretty much know everything in it, but still. So now with your recommendation and hers, I will have to get it. Just add it to the pile of books I am in the middle of reading.
Can Obama create more time, too? There just isn’t enough of it.
I believe creating more time is on Obama’s list. However, I’m not sure if he’ll have time to get to it with all the correcting of Bush’s mistakes when he takes office. (Pun intended)
hahaha. Even if he made each day longer by bending space and time and other physics things I don’t understand, it would still be impossible to clean up after Bushy in just 4 years. I really don’t envy Obama. I do feel sorry for all these people who are suffering from Bush’s failed economic policies. Even the ones who voted for him. Twice. You know how hard it is NOT to say, “Told you, suckas!!!!!” Really difficult.
That’s why I require multiple transfusions from all the tongue biting I’ve been doing.
I can’t wait to read this one! I looove Sarah Vowell.
