Ignorance In Action

I had to make a grocery run this afternoon.  On my way to the store, I passed by an oversized McCain/Palin campaign signs.  This sign has been in place since the Republican Convention.  Yet I noticed that the sign was a bit different today.  It had an addition made in red spray paint that said, “Obama”.  Now, if you haven’t figured it out, I am not a huge fan of McCain/Palin. However, I think that committing ignorant acts, such as vandalism, are not the answer. If you are for Sen. Obama, then speak to your friends and neighbors about him.  You can even go work on his campaign at one of your local Obama campaign offices.  If you’re a McCain supporter, you can do the same.

Doing stupid things like pretending that someone attacked you by carving the opponents initial (backwards) on your body or spray painting on opponent signs are not the answer.  If anything, it reflects poorly and has the potential to lose votes for your candidate of choice.  Think about it.

  1. I agree . I will say though it is hard to walk past the bumper stickers that say “vote mccain not hussein”. I want to kick their teeth in. My daughter and I passed a bumper that says NoObama…she and I both stuck our tongues out!

  2. I get lots of honks and air kisses because of my Obama bumper sticker….lovin it

  3. Hi D,
Just found your site from your posting on the Margaret and Helen blog. I like the way this is organized and your links. (LOVE Rachel Maddow)
Idiots come in all shapes, colors and political persuasions. There do seem to be MORE idiots on the McCain/Palin team than mere chance would account for, but there are enough random acts of idiocy on our team to keep me from becoming smug.
I watched Larry King’s interview with Michelle Obama a few weeks ago. She’s just great. She said that one of the good things to come from this year’s hard-fought campaigns is how many people are becoming involved in politics. Our national politics have seemed so cynical for the past decade, at least. Now we hopefully will have a leader who considers the best interest of the ordinary people of this country above the best interest of corporations. More Americans are focused on this election than any other election that I have experienced. That will bring out the crazies, too.
I’m just glad that Thanksgiving is after Election Day. We have just about EVERY religious, sexual and political persuasion represented in my family. In fact, the only thing we have in common is that we are outspoken and we love each other; true Americans, in other words.
    Keep Blogging!

  4. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I do feel that it is about time that more people vote. It is the smallest act one can perform in participating in this nation. People have fought and died to secure the right to vote and it should have been taken more seriously in the past. However, if this election has scared people into hitting the polls, than I’m happy. I just hope this election brings in more votes than American Idol.
